A memorable journey to discover how to slow down and master the art of relaxation.
In the week of the 24th of October, I was invited by Rituals to join their International Slow Down Sessions. A few days before the event, I received an unique ‘slow down’ suitcase at home with my name on it, filled with Rituals goodies and the “exclusive ticket” to the event.
When checking in at Hotel Jakarta in Amsterdam for the Rituals Slow Down Sessions, I was wowed by the impressive green oasis. After a bit of freshening up at the hotel, we went on a special boat for a canal tour to a “secret” location.
WORKSHOP 2: THE RITUAL OF AYURVEDA
After the first workshop at the Hair Temple, Niki Schilling showed us simple ways to create me-time in our daily life with the use of the ancient wisdom from India: The Ritual of Ayurveda.
We learned everything about the principle of the Ayurvedic lifestyle, balanced living, and got more insights into the doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha. We did an Aruyvedic Prakruthi Questionnaire to find our own dosha and learned what to do to clean and nourish our energy at home and balance our body, mind and soul.
For me, it starts with “Awakening” and enjoying a cup of Vata tea, an organic Indian chai tea with heart-warming Cinnamon and Liquorice which helps to calm and warm your body, soul and emotions and to promote well-being.
Afterwards, it is all about “Balancing” your doshas with the magic of a massage. The Vata dry oil is is rich in proteins and vitamins and is created to treat the body and soul with the nourishing sweet almond and basil.
THE RITUAL OF YALDA
We were welcomed by the CEO and Founder of Rituals, Raymond Cloosterman, for the official start of the Slow Down Sessions. The beautiful table setting was breathing the newest Limited Edition line of Rituals: The Ritual of Yalda, an ancient ritual from Persia. Yalda was created to find warmth, light and well-being during the coldest and longest nights of winter. The table was filled with pomegranate and watermelon, to create uplifting energy to overcome the “winter fatigue”.
After dinner, we did a few activities: from a real Yalda treatment to creating personalised Persian jewellery, and from finding our favourite tea at the Rituals tea corner to making a wish at the Yalda wishing station.
RITUALS NEWEST INNOVATION: THE HAIR TEMPLE
The next morning, we started with a yoga session to start the day Zen. After breakfast, three workshops were planned. The first workshop was all about Rituals newest innovation: the Hair Temple!
And we were invited to create our own personalised shampoo! I chose The Ritual of Sakura as base scent, which is designed to make each day feel like a new beginning with the delicate scent of cherry blossom and organic rice milk. I chose the boosters Volume and Blonde, which were tapped like shots in a bar. While the shampoo was getting mixed, my personalised label was printed and even has my name on it!
WORKSHOP 3: SKINCARE SECRETS
After lunch, we went to a workshop by skincare expert Abigail James for an inspiring session on how to get radiant skin. She gave special tips and tricks to elevate our daily skincare routine to a “soulful ritual”.
We used the products from the Ritual of Namasté collection, a new and advanced skincare range that shows the utmost respect for nature as well as your natural beauty. All of the products of this collection have been developed with responsibly sourced natural or naturally derived ingredients.
THE RITUALS SLUMBER PARTY
After our last workshop, we got a bit of me-time to fresh up for the Rituals Slumber Party. When back in our hotel room, we found our amazing pink striped Rituals pyjamas, eye mask and Slow Down slippers. We were brought to a very special location: The Supperclub Cruise where we first enjoyed dinner and drinks.
After that, the top floor was opened where we could enjoy a massage, tons of popcorn, open our own box in the Rituals vending machine, get a skin consultation and make our own “Slow Down video”.
